Goldman Sachs released a research report stating that Hong Kong's Q3 GDP preliminary reading grew 5.2% year-on-year, above market expectations, mainly reflecting an expanded net export contribution and a rebound in government consumption. The bank raised its Hong Kong 2026 GDP growth forecast to 5% from 4.2%, and its 2027 forecast to 3.1% from 2.4%.
Looking ahead, Goldman Sachs expects the continued AI capital expenditure cycle to help consolidate Hong Kong's role as a regional entrepot trade hub and provide support for the trade and logistics sector. In addition, supported by continued stabilization in the property market, the bank expects private consumption to remain resilient.
