On November 3, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (HKAA) and Turkish Airlines signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Airport Authority Hong Kong and Turkish Airlines on Strengthening Aviation Connectivity and Aviation Development Cooperation, deepening collaboration in multiple areas including strengthening aviation connectivity, enhancing operational standards, promoting sustainable development, and expanding talent training.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong, said: "The cooperation between Hong Kong International Airport and Turkish Airlines is the best demonstration of a 'strong partnership between two leaders.' Currently, Turkish Airlines ranks first in tonnage usage at the HKIA Dongguan Air Cargo Centre, which fully proves the deep foundation of bilateral cooperation. The signing of this MoU further promotes close ties between the two sides. We very much welcome Turkish Airlines deploying more fleet in Hong Kong and introducing new cargo sources to Hong Kong, in implementation of the milestone strategic decision to develop Hong Kong as its 'second hub.'"
Chan also noted that this cooperation not only confirms Turkish Airlines' absolute confidence in Hong Kong's economic vitality and efficient operations, but also highlights Hong Kong's enduring advantages as the preferred gateway to Mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region. She looks forward to the two sides leveraging massive synergies through deepened cooperation to create a win-win outcome.
The Hong Kong SAR Government will continue to play the important role of "super connector" and "super value-adder," striving to optimize global supply chains and open up new trade areas. This cooperation will fully leverage the efficiency advantages of Hong Kong International Airport to connect with Turkish Airlines' aviation network covering Europe, Africa, and the Americas. By leveraging Hong Kong's unique regional connectivity functions, it will further consolidate Hong Kong's leading position as an international aviation hub and the world's busiest cargo airport.
