Cyberport continues to drive the development of Hong Kong's digital asset and fintech ecosystem. Today, it launched two digital asset and fintech initiatives: the "Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Subsidy Scheme 2.0," commissioned by the Hong Kong Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, and the tConnect Launchpad, a collaboration platform supported by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. These initiatives further promote industry innovation and collaboration, and facilitate more real-world asset tokenization, blockchain, and digital asset implementation solutions.
Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong, said: "Hong Kong is a leading global international fintech hub. In the latest Global Financial Centres Index report, Hong Kong continues to rank first globally in fintech. This is the result of years of dedicated effort by the Government and the industry. Among these efforts, promoting innovative applications and broadening implementation scenarios are key elements in driving the industry forward. In view of the enthusiastic response from the industry to the first Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Subsidy Scheme, and the tangible benefits the project outcomes have brought to the market, the Government once again supports Cyberport in launching the 'Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Subsidy Scheme 2.0.' We will continue to optimize and establish the relevant regulatory regime, and continue to work with Cyberport and the industry to promote the healthy, responsible, and sustainable development of Hong Kong's digital asset market."
Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, said: "Financial tokenization is one of the cornerstones of the HKMA's 'Fintech 2030' vision. The HKMA is collaborating with Cyberport to implement tConnect Launchpad, establishing a dedicated platform to facilitate experimentation with innovative tokenization use cases, connect blockchain innovation with practical financial applications, bridge financial institutions with the tokenization community, and build a vibrant ecosystem to accelerate implementation, deepen collaboration among all parties, and create new value for Hong Kong's financial industry."
Rocky Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Cyberport, said: "Hong Kong's digital asset development is moving from exploratory innovation to a new stage of scaled application. The 'Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Subsidy Scheme' launched last year received an enthusiastic market response, with more than half of the shortlisted pilot projects successfully commercialized. The results are encouraging and reflect the strong market demand for innovative digital asset solutions. Through the 'Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Subsidy Scheme 2.0' and tConnect Launchpad, Cyberport aims to accelerate the implementation of innovative applications such as real-world asset tokenization, institutional-grade DeFi, on-chain finance, and the agent economy, and promote greater collaboration and technological integration between the financial and innovation and technology sectors."
