Single-quarter net profit reaches RMB1.4 billion: the profit logic behind Ingenic Semiconductor's (03223) earnings growth
In the first three quarters of 2026, Ingenic Semiconductor's operating revenue increased by 106.66% year on year, net profit attributable to shareholders rose by 922.95% year on year, and net profit after deducting non-recurring gains and losses grew by as much as 1,188.99%.
In the semiconductor industry, high earnings growth is often not merely the result of recovering demand, but also an important window into industry cycles, product competitiveness, and earnings quality.
After market close on October 27, Ingenic Semiconductor (03223) released its third-quarter 2026 report. In the first three quarters, the company achieved operating revenue of RMB7.102 billion, up 106.66% year on year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company reached RMB2.616 billion, up 922.95% year on year; and net profit after deducting non-recurring gains and losses was RMB2.595 billion, up 1,188.99% year on year.
Breaking down this report card, the rapid expansion of the memory chip business provided important support, the computing chip business grew in tandem, and overall gross margin also rose significantly compared with the same period last year.
On October 28, after the third-quarter report was disclosed, the company's share price rose 18.94% on heavier volume to HK$79.45, having risen more than 20% at one point during the session; on October 29, the share price extended its gains, closing at HK$83.00, up 4.47% for the day.
With high earnings growth, recovering gross margin, and a volume-backed share price rise intertwined, how much of Ingenic Semiconductor's current round of growth comes from an upswing in industry conditions, and how much stems from improvements in its own business structure and profitability?
Memory chips underpin the main growth line, computing chips open up profit space
It is understood that in the first three quarters of 2026, Ingenic Semiconductor's operating revenue grew 106.66% year on year, net profit attributable to parent grew 922.95% year on year, and net profit after deducting non-recurring items rose 1,188.99%. Profit growth far outpaced revenue growth, indicating that the company's current round of growth stems not only from expanded sales scale but is also accompanied by significant improvement in profitability.
On a single-quarter basis, the company's third-quarter operating revenue reached RMB3.145 billion, up 164.85% year on year and about 31.17% quarter on quarter; net profit attributable to parent was RMB1.419 billion, up about 61.46% quarter on quarter; and net profit after deducting non-recurring items reached RMB1.429 billion, up about 67.28% quarter on quarter.
Particularly noteworthy is that third-quarter net profit after deducting non-recurring items was higher than net profit attributable to parent, indicating that quarterly profit did not mainly rely on government subsidies or other non-recurring gains. In fact, the company's net profit after deducting non-recurring items for the first three quarters was RMB2.595 billion, very close to net profit attributable to parent of RMB2.616 billion, with improvement in the main business being the core source of this round of profit growth.
From the perspective of business structure, memory chips were undoubtedly the most important driving force behind this round of growth. In the first three quarters, Ingenic Semiconductor's memory chips achieved operating revenue of RMB4.916 billion, up 130.73% year on year, with gross margin reaching 56.53%. Computing chips achieved revenue of RMB1.752 billion, up 92.89% year on year, with gross margin reaching 64.04%; analog chips achieved revenue of RMB418 million, up 11.70% year on year, with gross margin of 49.28%.
On the one hand, memory chips contributed the largest revenue increment; on the other hand, although computing chips are relatively smaller in revenue scale, they maintained a high growth rate and gross margin level.
Specifically, memory chip revenue increased by about RMB2.785 billion compared with the same period last year, and was the main source of the company's revenue growth in the first three quarters. The company said in its third-quarter report that strong demand and tight market supply for DRAM chips drove continued product price increases; demand for Flash chips continued to grow, especially in emerging fields such as AI servers; and SRAM chips also maintained a favorable demand trend.
It should be emphasized that Ingenic Semiconductor is not equivalent to an AI memory manufacturer whose core product is HBM. According to the prospectus, the company's memory products mainly include DRAM, SRAM, NOR Flash, and NAND Flash, widely used in automotive electronics, industrial, medical, and other fields. The company has captured development opportunities from growing demand in emerging fields such as AI servers, but this cannot be directly used to infer that it has become a core beneficiary of the HBM industry chain.
From the perspective of a longer industry cycle, changes in memory chip supply and demand affect the company's performance mainly through three channels: product prices, sales volume, and costs. When demand grows faster than supply expansion, product price improvement may directly drive revenue and gross margin upward. For Ingenic Semiconductor, rising DRAM prices, increasing Flash demand, and sustained favorable SRAM demand together form the foundation for growth in the memory business.
However, not all products in the memory chip market see simultaneous price increases, nor can all companies achieve the same magnitude of profit improvement. Differences exist in product specifications, customer structure, inventory costs, and supply cycles, and the speed at which price increases are transmitted to the income statement may also differ. Therefore, to judge the strength of the company's memory business, in addition to observing industry price changes, it is also necessary to track changes in actual sales revenue, gross margin, and inventory costs.
Overall, Ingenic Semiconductor has formed a relatively clear business portfolio: memory chips contribute the main growth elasticity, computing chips further amplify profitability, and analog chips provide relatively stable business support. The simultaneous growth of all three product lines means this round of performance improvement is not just a short-term change in a single business, but also reflects an improvement in the company's overall operating environment.
Profitability continues to recover, diversified layout opens up subsequent growth space
If the rapid growth of revenue and net profit reflects the expansion of Beijing Ingenic's business scale, then changes in gross margin and operating cash flow further demonstrate the quality of this round of performance improvement.
It is understood that in the first three quarters of 2026, the company's overall gross margin reached 58.03%, up 23.84 percentage points from the same period last year, reflecting that factors such as product price changes, business structure, and cost management jointly drove an expansion in profit space.
At the same time, operating costs in the first three quarters grew 31.79% year on year, significantly lower than the 106.66% increase in operating revenue. The difference between revenue growth and cost growth also reflects the elasticity of profit release after the company's operating scale expanded.
Cash flow performance further supported earnings growth. In the first three quarters, net cash flow from the company's operating activities reached RMB1.896 billion, up 271.53% year on year, consistent with the direction of profit growth over the same period, indicating that while achieving profit growth, the company's ability to generate cash from operating activities also strengthened.
As of the end of the third quarter, the company's monetary funds reached RMB7.159 billion, up 74.97% from the end of the previous year, providing funding support for subsequent R&D investment, product iteration, and market expansion. For chip design companies, continuous investment in R&D and maintaining product competitiveness are important foundations for long-term development, and relatively ample capital reserves also create conditions for the company to advance related initiatives.
Changes in fundamentals were also quickly reflected in the secondary market. On October 27, Beijing Ingenic's share price closed at RMB66.80; on October 28, after the third-quarter report was disclosed, the share price rose 18.94% to close at HK$79.45, touching an intraday high of RMB83.50, with trading volume of about 14.2 million shares that day, markedly higher than the previous trading day.
From the perspective of market focus, investors are not only observing the company's current profit growth, but also reassessing the impact of changes in memory chip industry conditions on the company's performance and the growth space brought by the company's multi-product line layout. Of course, single-day share price performance reflects more short-term trading sentiment, and the company's long-term value still needs to be continuously verified by subsequent operating performance.
From a longer-cycle perspective, the highlight of Beijing Ingenic lies in the combination of industry conditions and its own business layout. The company's business covers memory, computing, and analog chips, with products used in automotive electronics, industrial control, intelligent vision, and many other fields. These application scenarios have different requirements for chip performance, reliability, and product life cycles, and also provide the company with a diversified market foundation.
As artificial intelligence applications extend to the edge and automotive electronics and industrial intelligence continue to develop, demand for memory and computing capabilities in related fields is expected to be further unleashed. The company continues to advance R&D and iteration on the basis of existing products, and whether it can translate technological accumulation into more product applications and revenue increments in the future will be a direction worth continued attention.
Overall, Beijing Ingenic's performance in the first three quarters is reflected not only in the substantial growth of revenue and net profit, but also in the simultaneous improvement of operating indicators such as gross margin and operating cash flow. The memory chip business drove this round of earnings growth, while computing and analog chips and the diversified application layout provide the company with a broader development foundation. For the company itself, how to sustain product competitiveness and grasp changes in downstream application demand will determine whether this round of growth can be transformed into more sustainable performance.
