On Tuesday, US semiconductor stocks rose in early trading, with Broadcom Inc. (AVGO.US) up nearly 5%, AMD (AMD.US) up over 4%, and Intel Corporation (INTC.US) up over 3%. On the news front, Broadcom Inc. announced that it has reached a US$63 billion deal with Bank of America Corp, Blackstone Inc., Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley to provide financing for artificial intelligence startup Anthropic's chip purchases, forming one of the largest AI chip financing transactions to date. The deal is seen by the market as an important endorsement of institutional capital's confidence in AI infrastructure investment. According to a joint statement, the transaction will be completed through a newly established special purpose vehicle (SPV), with Bank of America Corp, Blackstone, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley providing financing to purchase Broadcom Inc. chips and lease them to Anthropic. The vehicle will borrow US$63 billion from the above institutions to purchase Broadcom Inc.'s XPU AI accelerators and networking solutions, and then lease the related equipment to Anthropic. The equipment is expected to begin delivery in 2027. Meanwhile, Anthropic has officially submitted an IPO application, planning to list on Nasdaq under the ticker "ANT," with Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. and Morgan Stanley leading the underwriting. The issue price, number of shares offered, and fundraising size have not yet been determined, but market expectations for its valuation have surged to US$1.5 trillion to US$2 trillion. If completed at the upper limit, this would become one of the largest IPOs in history.
