During the summit, financial leaders will discuss emerging opportunities and potential risks brought by macroeconomic trends, financial market developments, and technological advancements to different industries, assets, and regions.
On October 26, Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, said that the HKMA will hold the fifth Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit from November 2 to 4, 2026. The summit will bring together about 280 international financial leaders, including about 120 group chairmen and chief executives, and will be a premier event for high-level dialogue and deepening connections across the global financial community. Eddie Yue said that looking back at the first summit, it coincided with the start of Hong Kong's post-pandemic recovery, and in the years since, global financial markets have experienced multiple shocks, especially the rapid development of technology, which has brought disruptive structural changes: regional military conflicts have had a profound impact on the global economy; trade policy and security considerations have fragmented the geo-economy, and global supply chains are continuing to be restructured; blockchain technology is reshaping global financial infrastructure and the model of financial services; and the continued expansion of non-bank financial institutions has made the pros and cons of financial services more complex. At present, inflationary pressures, worsening fiscal debt in major economies, and growing cyber risks are all market concerns, and challenges abound. However, none has had a more profound impact than artificial intelligence (AI). From astronomical levels of investment and financial sustainability, to the elimination of the weak and survival of the strong across industries caused by AI, to its impact on productivity, employment, inflation and interest rates, AI undoubtedly brings much uncertainty and risk to financial markets. Eddie Yue introduced that the three-day summit will kick off with a welcome dinner on the evening of November 2, followed by the main summit on November 3. On November 4, the HKMA, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance will co-host a "Dialogue with Global Investors" seminar. During the summit, financial leaders will discuss macroeconomic trends, changes in financial markets and technological developments, and the emerging opportunities and potential risks they bring to different industries, assets and regions. He continued that participants will also experience firsthand how Hong Kong itself is "embracing change and pursuing innovation to open up new prospects," using innovative technology to drive economic transformation while strengthening the competitiveness and momentum of its international financial center, continuously consolidating its existing advantages on the one hand and continuously developing frontier areas on the other, including deepening and expanding its function as a global offshore RMB hub, promoting a more active fixed income market, improving an enabling and resilient digital asset and payment ecosystem, and developing gold and commodities businesses.
