On the news front, reports indicate that LENOVO GROUP is seeking a US$2 billion loan at a rate better than the existing loan it plans to replace. Asia's loan market is quiet, but banks remain willing to extend credit to leading Chinese companies. The five-year loan has launched syndication at a rate of SOFR plus 75 basis points. The pricing is significantly tighter than a comparable-sized loan in 2022, which was priced at SOFR plus 110 basis points plus a credit adjustment spread, with the difference stemming from the benchmark rate switch from LIBOR to SOFR.
In addition, recent market concerns over highly leveraged AI infrastructure operators have triggered volatility in the AI supply chain, though Citi believes LENOVO GROUP's direct exposure to high-risk new cloud customers is limited. The company's robust risk control measures and comprehensive receivables insurance effectively alleviate market concerns about its balance sheet. Citi cut its target price for LENOVO GROUP by 20%, from HK$50 to HK$40, reflecting the potential share dilution from convertible bonds and warrants, as well as updates to its valuation model.
