On Friday, Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) opened up over 2%, currently at $367.57. On the news front, after a 9-year delay, Musk's "flying sports car" has finally made its debut. On Thursday, at the SpaceX rocket test site in McGregor, Texas, accompanied by thick fog, red lasers, and a main stage surrounded by self-media creators, a grand event akin to an outdoor concert unfolded the Tesla, Inc. second-generation Roadster finally welcomed its "rebirth." Musk reiterated that this will be the only model Tesla, Inc. retains with manual driving capability for the long term. According to the current plan, mass production is scheduled for 2028.
For investors, the commercial value of this car cannot be ignored. Independent research firm Battle Road Research estimated in a research report on Thursday that if the Roadster sells 7,000 units in its first year of production, at an average price of $280,000, it would bring Tesla, Inc. nearly $2 billion in annualized revenue and boost the market's expected 2027 revenue by about 2%, "quite considerable."
