CLP HOLDINGS (00002) Hong Kong electricity sales in the first nine months rose 2.5% year-on-year to 28.131 billion kWh.
CLP HOLDINGS (00002) announced that for January-September 2026, Hong Kong electricity sales rose 2.5% year-on-year to 28.131 billion kWh, mainly benefiting from the steady growth of Hong Kong's economy, which drove up electricity demand across most sectors. The rapid development of artificial intelligence and other innovative technology industries pushed up electricity sales to data centres by 12.8%, accounting for 6.6% of total electricity consumption. Electricity consumption related to electric vehicle charging also continued to record strong growth.

CLP China's nuclear power assets in Guangdong Province maintained stable operation in the first nine months of this year. Power generation at Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station increased compared with the same period last year. Power generation at Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station also remained strong, but the average tariff declined due to a higher proportion of market-based electricity sales and continued intense competition.
Despite an increase in grid curtailment, CLP China's overall renewable energy generation recorded modest growth compared with the same period last year, mainly benefiting from new wind power and CECEP Solar Energy projects, as well as steady hydropower performance. However, lower wind speeds and solar irradiance in the eastern coastal regions this year had some impact on generation. The average tariff of the generation portfolio declined slightly compared with the same period last year, while overcapacity in the renewable energy market has shown signs of stabilising.
Two wind farms of CLP China in Shandong Province commenced commercial operation in September, namely the Juancheng Phase I Wind Farm (300 MW) and the Guanxian Phase I Wind Farm (125 MW). The Sandu Phase II Wind Farm (100 MW) in Guizhou Province and the Xundian Phase III Wind Farm (50 MW) in Yunnan Province were commissioned earlier this year. In response to the renewable energy market reform implemented in June 2025, all four projects have made electricity sales arrangements through mechanism tariffs or corporate power purchase agreements to ensure a more stable income stream.
CLP China's Qingyuan CECEP Solar Energy photovoltaic project (80 MW) in Zhejiang Province commenced construction in July after securing a mechanism tariff contract. The Juancheng Phase II Wind Power Project (106 MW) in Shandong Province, which broke ground in January this year, is also supported by similar financial arrangements. CLP China is seeking stable income sources for the Hepu CECEP Solar Energy photovoltaic power plant (140 MW) in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is currently under construction.
In addition, the Board today announced the declaration of a third interim dividend for 2026 of HK$0.63 per share, the same as the third interim dividend for 2025. This dividend will be paid on 15 December 2026 to shareholders registered on the register of members as at 4 December 2026.
