In September, Hong Kong recorded 3,810 registrations for second-hand residential properties (including second-hand private residential and second-hand public housing), an increase of about 1.2% from 3,763 in August.
Wang Pindi, Director of Research at Hong Kong Property, said that according to data from the Hong Kong Land Registry compiled by the Research Department of Hong Kong Property, 3,810 registrations were recorded for second-hand residential properties (including second-hand private residential properties and second-hand public housing) in September, an increase of about 1.2% from 3,763 in August; among them, 1,213 registrations were recorded for second-hand residential properties priced between HKD 5 million and HKD 10 million, an increase of about 6.8% from 1,136 in August, outperforming the overall market on a month-on-month basis. The related figure rebounded after two consecutive months of decline and returned to above 1,200 cases. Given the time required from signing the sale and purchase agreement to submitting it to the Hong Kong Land Registry for registration, the September registration cases generally mainly reflected the market conditions in August. If the month-on-month performance of registrations for second-hand residential properties priced between HKD 5 million and HKD 10 million in September is divided into three districts, Kowloon (including Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung) recorded 449 registrations, an increase of about 14.5% from 392 in August; the New Territories recorded 518 registrations, an increase of about 5.5% from 491 in August; in contrast, Hong Kong Island (including Discovery Bay) recorded 246 registrations, a decrease of about 2.8% from 253 in August.
