Ministry of Culture and Tourism news: During the 2026 National Day holiday, the national culture and tourism market was stable and orderly.
On October 9, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, during the 2026 National Day holiday, the national culture and tourism market was stable and orderly. According to estimates by the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, during the 7-day National Day holiday, there were 826 million domestic trips nationwide, and total domestic tourism spending reached 738.375 billion yuan, up 6.3% and 4.3% year on year respectively compared with 2025 on a comparable basis (daily average). Product supply was rich and diverse. Red tourism was highly favored, with 40% of tourists visiting revolutionary venues, watching flag-raising ceremonies, and attending patriotic performances and other activities. Rural tourism continued to heat up, with autumn scenery viewing, intangible cultural heritage experiences, farming and picking, rural night tours, bonfire markets, and rice field concerts widely popular. The performance market was booming, with 180 large-scale performances held nationwide, including 125 concerts and 55 music festivals. Benefit measures stimulated vitality. During the national National Day culture and tourism consumption month, various localities held a wide range of cultural and tourism activities to attract tourists and issued more than 310 million yuan in consumption subsidies, continuously releasing consumption momentum. The nighttime culture and tourism economy flourished, with localities intensively launching nighttime performances, night tours of ancient towns with national-style themes, light shows, and other activities to create all-time, all-area consumption scenarios. National-level nighttime culture and tourism consumption clusters recorded a total nighttime foot traffic of 107 million person-times, up 5.6% year on year. The inbound tourism market was active, with 2.983 million inbound tourist visits nationwide, up 19.0% and 6.5% year on year respectively compared with 2024 and 2025 on a comparable basis (daily average). Integration empowered and enhanced the experience. The deep integration of culture, commerce, tourism, and sports continued, and "traveling with events" continued to heat up. Mass sporting events such as the "Su Super League," "Northeast Super League," and "Village BA" strongly boosted economic growth in passenger transport, catering, and accommodation. Scientific and technological empowerment was strengthened, with digital exhibitions, VR/AR experiences, AI tour companions, and other projects enriching the touring experience, while big data monitoring, AI scheduling, and other smart management measures ensured market safety and order.
