The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) hosted the plenary meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Committee on Issuer Accounting, Audit and Disclosure (Committee) in Hong Kong from 5 to 8 October 2026.
The four-day meeting, held with the support of the Committee and including sessions of its subcommittees, brought together over 35 senior executives and representatives from 21 securities regulators worldwide. Participants exchanged views on a range of regulatory and market issues, including advancing the modernisation of disclosure requirements to reduce the reporting burden on listed companies, as well as the latest developments in financial reporting and auditing. They also discussed emerging issues affecting public equity markets, including the application of technology and artificial intelligence, and private equity investment in audit firms.
Ms Julia Leung, Executive Director of the SFC's Corporate Finance Division, said the meeting affirmed Hong Kong's leading position as an international financial centre and its commitment to promoting international regulatory cooperation.
"High-quality corporate disclosure, financial reporting and assurance are crucial to enhancing investor confidence and facilitating effective capital formation. As global capital markets continue to evolve and become increasingly interconnected, cross-border regulatory cooperation is ever more important in promoting market transparency, fairness and efficiency, and in addressing common regulatory challenges," Ms Leung said.
