On the news front, Wolfspeed will receive a $1.5 billion conditional loan from the Pentagon, and the company's stock surged over 28% in after-hours trading. The Pentagon issued a statement on the conditional loan, saying the loan is being granted to strengthen the wide-bandgap materials supply chain. It is understood that Wolfspeed focuses on silicon carbide materials and power application devices. Its product lineup includes power devices, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride (GaN) materials.
In addition, market sources indicated that SICC Co.,Ltd. revealed in a recent conference call that its monthly order volume has been significantly higher than its existing production capacity. It is understood that the company's current monthly order volume has reached 120,000 to 130,000 wafers, while its existing production capacity is about 100,000 wafers. Sources said management is optimistic about product prices in 2027, has already adjusted quotes for some small customers in the second quarter of this year, and believes there is a possibility of price increases for silicon carbide substrates in 2027.
