Eli Lilly (LLY.US) triple agonist announces Phase III data

On September 30, Eli Lilly (LLY.US) announced detailed results from the TRIUMPH-2 study. TRIUMPH-2 is a Phase III clinical study designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of retatrutide in adults with obesity or overweight who also have type 2 diabetes. Retatrutide is a peptide drug developed by Eli Lilly based on the GIP peptide sequence that simultaneously targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), the glucagon receptor (GCGR), and the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), with an average half-life of up to 6 days in the human body. Retatrutide is currently the most advanced GLP-1R/GIPR/GCGR agonist. Eli Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the first quarter of 2027. Additional results from the obstructive sleep apnea trial in the TRIUMPH-2 study will be presented at future medical conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.
