On September 29, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released China's balance of payments goods and services trade data for August 2026. In August 2026, China's balance of payments goods and services trade imports and exports totaled 51,179 billion yuan. Among this, goods and services trade exports were 28,793 billion yuan, imports were 22,386 billion yuan, and the surplus was 6,407 billion yuan. From the perspective of major service trade items, travel services imports and exports totaled 1,731 billion yuan, transportation services imports and exports totaled 1,532 billion yuan, other business services imports and exports totaled 1,437 billion yuan, and telecommunications, computer, and information services imports and exports totaled 693 billion yuan.
In US dollar terms, in August 2026, China's balance of payments goods and services trade exports were 424.3 billion US dollars, imports were 329.9 billion US dollars, and the surplus was 94.4 billion US dollars.
