Zhang Jianzhong expects that during the National Day Golden Week, Macau's average daily visitor arrivals are expected to surpass last year's level of 143,000.
Zhang Jianzhong, President of the Macau Hotel and Tourism Association, President of the Tourism Development Think Tank, Chairman of the Tourism Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of Macau CTS, said that the mainland's National Day holiday is adjacent to the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, making for a long holiday period. It is expected that average daily visitor arrivals during the National Day Golden Week are expected to surpass last year's level of 143,000. At present, overall hotel booking conditions in Macau are relatively ideal, with the booking rate for hotels in the New Port area at about 80%, and visitors generally booking for two to three nights. Zhang Jianzhong said that room rates have risen somewhat during the peak season, but the increase is reasonable. Booking figures are expected to continue rising, and the overall occupancy rate may exceed 90%. October 1 to 5 will see the peak period, and some hotels may reach an occupancy rate of nearly 100%. Macau Tourism Bureau Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said in an interview that visitor conditions during the Mid-Autumn Festival were ideal, and she hopes the effect will continue into the "October 1st" National Day holiday. The authorities have deployed multiple measures to welcome visitors and hope to reach the target of 150,000 visitor arrivals per day. Market performance during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was robust. On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, inbound visitor arrivals were about 140,000, and the day after Mid-Autumn Festival exceeded 170,000. Good weather boosted visitors' willingness to travel. It is hoped that the Mid-Autumn Festival momentum can continue into the National Day holiday.
