On Friday, the U.S. artificial intelligence sector rose broadly, with Arm (ARM.US) up over 4%, Dell Technologies, Inc. Class C (DELL.US) up over 3%, and Super Micro Computer, Inc. (SMCI.US), Micron Technology, Inc. (MU.US), and others up over 2%. As demand for AI hardware drives the semiconductor sector higher overall, investors are focusing on AI-driven CPU demand. Meta Platforms disclosed that its Muse AI agent is gaining rapid adoption in CPU-based inference workloads, and Arm's CPU designs are seen as a key cornerstone for handling the scale of Muse-related AI inference, further highlighting the company's importance in the broader AI infrastructure discussion.
In addition, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its latest annual report, citing external estimates that global artificial intelligence (AI) investment led by the private sector could exceed $2 trillion this year. The report noted that AI-related technology investment is estimated to have boosted U.S. GDP growth by 0.5 percentage points in 2025, while the acceleration in U.S. productivity growth in recent years also partly reflects the early positive impact of AI adoption.
