SpaceX (SPCX.US)'s AI division SpaceXAI launched its AI agent product Grok Bot, which surpassed 400,000 weekly users about one month after launch, indicating relatively modest early demand for a product that is key to Elon Musk's company's AI ambitions. According to a presentation at an event in London and attendees, Grok Bot reached 418,000 weekly users as of September 14, up 24% from the previous week. The product's latest user data is not yet available. The agent product is different from SpaceXAI's flagship chat Siasun Robot&Automation Grok. SpaceXAI launched Grok Bot in mid-August, aiming to catch up with Anthropic PBC and OpenAI in the growing AI agent market. Grok Bot is designed to be more like an around-the-clock employee than a chat Siasun Robot&Automation. It can reply to emails, update sales databases, process invoices, organize work, or submit software bugs. After Meta Platforms (META.US)'s Muse topped Apple Inc.'s free app rankings, Wall Street this week turned its attention to the market potential of AI agents. Muse's early popularity led analysts to compare it with OpenAI's ChatGPT's breakout success at the end of 2022. Meta's Muse is more consumer-focused and can be downloaded for free. By contrast, SpaceXAI positions Grok Bot as an enterprise tool, bundling it with different tiers of AI subscription plans while also making it available as a standalone app. Data shows Muse's downloads are four times those of Grok Bot. Over the past three months, SpaceXAI has been aggressively seizing ground in AI. After completing its $60 billion acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor, the company pushed forward with model and agent product releases. In July, the company released Grok 4.5, a model focused on coding, finance, and legal tasks that costs less to use than other competing software. Earlier this week, SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.7, designed to handle more challenging tasks over longer periods.
