On Tuesday, Greenland Mines (GRML.US) extended yesterday's gains, gapping up sharply at the open and rising nearly 90% at one point intraday before paring gains to 50% as of press time. On the news front, the Danish Prime Minister's Office announced that Denmark, its autonomous territory Greenland, and the United States will sign a security agreement in New York on the 22nd local time "to strengthen security in the Arctic and North Atlantic China Welding Consumables,Inc. region."
The vast, sparsely populated island of Greenland holds nearly one-third of the world's rare earth reserves, as well as 17.5 billion barrels of oil and 4.15 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. Meanwhile, according to reports, the United States plans to add two new military bases in Greenland, including rebuilding an old Cold War-era U.S. military base in the south and establishing another military facility at an existing Danish military outpost on the island's east coast.
