Pre-market surge of over 20% at one point! Einride (ENRD.US) announces strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) to accelerate deployment of autonomous heavy-duty trucks.

Swedish autonomous truck manufacturer Einride AB (ENRD.US) announced on Monday a strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous heavy-duty trucks. Driven by this news, Einride's stock surged more than 20% at one point in pre-market trading on Monday. Under the partnership, Einride will adapt NVIDIA Corporation's DRIVE Hyperion platform for heavy-duty trucks, extending its compute, sensor, software, and safety architecture to meet freight operations requirements. Einride also plans to deploy NVIDIA Corporation's Blackwell architecture at scale through NVIDIA Corporation Exemplar Cloud partners for training, testing, and optimizing its autonomous driving models. NVIDIA Corporation will provide the underlying compute platform and AI tools for Einride's autonomous driving system. Einride Chief Technology Officer Henrik Green said: "We have the customers, operational experience, and technology. Building the next-generation Einride Driver on NVIDIA Corporation's Hyperion platform will enable us to scale autonomous deployment across the freight networks already serving our customers." Einride currently operates hundreds of electric trucks for major freight customers in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The company expects demand to grow to 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles by 2028, with approximately 80% suitable for automation in the medium term. These additional demands will come on top of its already operational driverless trucks. NVIDIA Corporation Vice President of Automotive Rishi Dhall said that autonomous trucks using autonomous vehicles that require minimal human intervention offer an opportunity to improve the safety and efficiency of global freight. Einride was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Stockholm. This summer, the company began trading on Nasdaq after completing its merger with blank-check company Legato Merger Corp. III; the deal valued Einride's equity at $1.35 billion before accounting for transaction proceeds. The company develops electric autonomous freight vehicles and software platforms for customers including PepsiCo, Inc. (PEP.US) and European brewers Carlsberg and Heineken (HEINY.US). The partnership with NVIDIA Corporation is the latest step in promoting broader adoption of autonomous or driverless trucks. Previously, Alphabet (GOOGL.US)'s Waymo autonomous passenger taxis and Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US)'s robotaxis have become widespread in U.S. cities; Daimler Truck North America has tested highway trucks for the U.S. market; and Carter's Incorporated Caterpillar (CAT.US)'s autonomous and remote-controlled bulldozers have also been put into use at some landfills.
