NVIDIA has invested $2 billion in Brookfield Asset Management's global artificial intelligence infrastructure fund.
According to investor documents, NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) has invested $2 billion in Brookfield Asset Management's (BAM.US) global artificial intelligence infrastructure fund. The documents disclosed for the first time the specific size of this previously announced investment, indicating that as global AI computing power construction continues to expand, NVIDIA Corporation is further extending its capital allocation into data centers, power, and computing infrastructure. NVIDIA Corporation and the Kuwait Investment Authority are both cornerstone investors in Brookfield's AI infrastructure fund. Brookfield announced the partnership last year but did not disclose the specific investment amount from NVIDIA Corporation at the time. The fund plans to raise $10 billion, focusing on global AI infrastructure construction, including AI-supporting factories, dedicated behind-the-meter power solutions, and computing infrastructure. Brookfield Accelerates AI Infrastructure Push, Plans to Raise About $50 Billion for Infrastructure Business Over Two Years New York-based Brookfield has become one of the important private capital providers in global AI infrastructure construction in recent years. In addition to planning to raise $10 billion for the aforementioned AI infrastructure fund, the company has also set a larger capital-raising plan. Earlier reports said Brookfield plans to raise about $50 billion for its infrastructure business as a whole over the next two years, with AI running through all of the group's investment strategies. At the same time, Brookfield is also a member of an investment consortium led by NVIDIA Corporation. The consortium has committed to financing AI computing projects with a total scale exceeding $500 billion, further reflecting that AI industry capital expenditure is extending from chips themselves to broader infrastructure segments such as data centers, power, and computing facilities. For NVIDIA Corporation, this $2 billion investment also means that while the company is the world's largest supplier of AI accelerators, it is further participating in the construction of the AI infrastructure ecosystem through capital partnerships. As demand for AI model training and inference continues to increase, the links between chips, power, data centers, and financing capacity are becoming increasingly close. Targeting $1.3 Trillion in Assets, Infrastructure to Hold an Important Place Brookfield also announced a longer-term asset expansion target. According to materials released at the company's annual investor day on Thursday, Brookfield plans to double the scale of assets that generate management fee revenue to $1.3 trillion by 2031, with infrastructure expected to account for about 16%. This means infrastructure will remain an important pillar of Brookfield's future asset management scale expansion, and AI data centers and related energy infrastructure are expected to become important investment directions within it. However, Brookfield CEO Connor Teskey said the company has set an "extremely high" threshold for new acquisitions. Even so, Brookfield will still look for business opportunities that can strengthen its existing investment strategies, including in credit, especially asset-backed financing, as well as some private equity and fund distribution businesses.
