When a company that was originally highly dependent on photovoltaic equipment begins to bet more and more resources on silicon photonics manufacturing equipment related to AI infrastructure, the market needs to focus not just on whether the industry is growing, but on whether this transformation can actually change the company's profit model.
Recently, Robotechnik Intelligent Technology formally passed the Hong Kong Stock Exchange hearing, marking the official start of an "A+H" dual capital platform layout for this intelligent manufacturing equipment manufacturer already listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
As a long-established player in China's photovoltaic automation equipment sector, Robotechnik was founded in 2011. As the photovoltaic industry entered a period of overcapacity, the company's traditional business revenue continued to decline, and its profitability came under pressure. At the same time, through years of planning and the eventual completion of a full acquisition of German silicon photonics equipment company ficonTEC, the company extended its business reach into emerging fields closely related to AI infrastructure, such as high-speed optical communications, silicon photonic chips, and CPO.

Business dual-engine shift: photovoltaic under pressure, silicon photonics accelerating
It is understood that Robotechnik Intelligent Technology started with a photovoltaic intelligent manufacturing equipment business. Its core products include photovoltaic cell production automation equipment, complete production line solutions, and an intelligent manufacturing system centered on the R2Fab MES platform, mainly serving downstream photovoltaic cell manufacturers.
According to China Insights Consultancy data, based on 2025 revenue, the company ranks fifth globally in the intelligent photovoltaic cell automated manufacturing equipment field, with a market share of approximately 2.6%.
However, affected by overcapacity and slowing demand in the global photovoltaic industry, the company's photovoltaic business has come under obvious pressure in recent years. Revenue scale fell sharply from RMB 1.49 billion in 2023 to RMB 433 million in 2025, and automated equipment sales plunged from 1,932 units to 110 units, becoming the main factor dragging down the company's overall performance.
Despite the decline in sales volume, the average selling price of the company's photovoltaic equipment continued to rise, from RMB 749,000 per unit in 2023 to RMB 1.302 million per unit in 2025, mainly due to an increase in the revenue share from overseas markets, especially India. Higher pricing levels in overseas markets partially offset the contraction in domestic demand.
At the same time, the company is also smoothing the fluctuations of the photovoltaic cycle by promoting high-value-added equipment upgrade and renovation projects and expanding into overseas emerging markets. As of June 2026, the company's contracted value of photovoltaic orders in hand in India was approximately RMB 100 million, expected to be recognized as revenue within the year.
What truly supports the company's long-term growth logic is the silicon photonics business brought by the full acquisition of Germany's ficonTEC completed in 2025. Through a two-step acquisition structure, Robotechnik Intelligent Technology completed 100% ownership of ficonTEC in May 2025, formally entering the high-growth track of silicon photonics intelligent manufacturing equipment.
The silicon photonics business mainly includes assembly equipment and testing equipment for silicon photonic devices, covering the core processes of silicon photonics manufacturing. Its downstream customers are mainly leading players in the global datacom and telecom fields, benefiting from the explosive demand for high-speed optical interconnection driven by AI computing power expansion. Based on 2025 revenue, the company ranks first globally in the silicon photonics intelligent manufacturing equipment field, with a market share of 20.5%, and its technical barriers and industry position are significantly higher than those of the photovoltaic business.
In terms of revenue contribution, the silicon photonics business generated revenue of RMB 439 million in 2025, accounting for 46.3% of total revenue, almost on par with the photovoltaic business. By the first four months of 2026, the revenue share of the silicon photonics business further rose to 65.8%, having replaced photovoltaic as the company's largest source of revenue. In the first half of 2026, revenue from the silicon photonics business increased by 952.2% year over year, entering an explosive phase of mass production and delivery.
From the perspective of technological synergy, the two major businesses of photovoltaic and silicon photonics share three core technologies: motion control, machine vision, and software factory integration. The Robo Vision and Robo DeepVision self-developed machine vision platforms accumulated in the photovoltaic business can be reused in silicon photonics equipment to replace third-party software and reduce licensing costs. Meanwhile, the nanoscale high-precision motion control technology and PCM software owned by the silicon photonics business can in turn empower the upgrading of photovoltaic equipment and improve its control precision, forming a certain two-way synergy effect.
However, it should be viewed objectively that the market logic, cost structure, customer groups, and supply chain systems of the two businesses differ significantly: photovoltaic customers are concentrated in mainland China and India, mainly standardized equipment, and are highly affected by industry cycles; silicon photonics customers are spread across the world, mainly customized equipment, with rapid technological iteration but strong growth certainty.
At present, the integration of ficonTEC is still at an early stage. The synergy effects between the two sides in supply chain, sales channels, and product R&D have not yet been fully released, and some silicon photonics projects are still in the production testing stage and have not yet reached the acceptance milestones for revenue recognition. In the short term, they still face pressure from long delivery cycles and high fixed costs.
In addition, the company's actual controller, Mr. Dai, has made a performance guarantee to ficonTEC that cumulative net profit from 2025 to 2027 will be no less than EUR 58.1 million, with a compensation cap of RMB 1.012 billion, providing some downside protection for acquisition risk, but whether the performance commitment can ultimately be fulfilled remains uncertain.
Silicon photonics volume ramp drives profit repair, transformation still faces multiple tests
From a financial performance perspective, the company achieved net profit of RMB 79.5 million and RMB 63.2 million in 2023 and 2024, respectively, maintaining profitability. In 2025, however, due to the dual impact of the deep adjustment in the photovoltaic industry and increased amortization of intangible assets and operating expenses after the acquisition of ficonTEC, the company recorded a full-year net loss of RMB 45 million. In the first four months of 2026, the loss further widened to RMB 74.7 million, mainly due to the continued downturn in the photovoltaic business and the fact that silicon photonics projects had not yet reached acceptance milestones, with fixed costs continuing to be invested.
Entering the first half of 2026, the company's performance showed an inflection point. As of June 30, the company achieved net profit of RMB 6.25 million, turning profitable, with the core driver being the dual improvement in revenue and gross profit brought by mass production and delivery of the silicon photonics business.
At the gross margin level, the company's overall gross margin rose from 21.9% in 2023 to 34.5% in 2025, and remained at 32.1% in the first four months of 2026, mainly due to the increased share of the higher-margin silicon photonics business and the increased share of high-margin overseas orders in the photovoltaic business. Among this, the gross margin of the silicon photonics business reached 42.9% in the first half of 2026, significantly higher than 32.6% for the photovoltaic business. As the scale effect of silicon photonics emerges, overall profitability still has room for improvement.
At the cash flow level, the company's cash conversion cycle continued to lengthen, rising from 156 days in 2023 to 406 days in 2025, and further reaching 580 days in the first four months of 2026, mainly affected by slower collection of accounts receivable in the photovoltaic business and longer customer acceptance cycles.
It is understood that the cash conversion cycle of the silicon photonics business is relatively shorter, and there are more contract prepayments. As the share of the silicon photonics business increases, the overall cash flow situation is expected to gradually improve, but in the short term, working capital pressure still exists.
In addition, high customer concentration is also a notable feature of the company. In 2025, the top five customers accounted for 63.2% of revenue. Moreover, as the business transitions toward silicon photonics, the customer structure is shifting from photovoltaic manufacturers to datacom technology manufacturers. Orders from leading customers are larger in scale and have longer acceptance cycles, bringing both growth opportunities and hidden concentration risks.
In this Hong Kong listing, the company's use of proceeds mainly centers on five major directions: product and technology R&D, capacity expansion, construction of a global sales and service network, strategic investments, and supplementing working capital. The core remains increasing its bet on the silicon photonics track to respond to the explosive market demand driven by AI.
From the perspective of industry prospects, the global silicon photonics intelligent manufacturing equipment market is in a period of rapid growth. The market size was approximately RMB 3 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach RMB 26.6 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 54.9%. The commercialization and penetration of technologies such as CPO and OCS will continue to release equipment demand, and the company, as a global leader, is expected to benefit fully. At the same time, after experiencing capacity clearance, the photovoltaic industry is expected to gradually recover from 2027, which will also bring performance elasticity to the company.
However, risk factors also need to be fully considered. The first is industry cycle risk. The photovoltaic business is still in a downward channel and is expected to continue losing money in 2026. If the industry recovery falls short of expectations, it will continue to drag down overall performance. Although the silicon photonics industry is growing rapidly, its technology routes are diverse and iterate quickly. If the company misjudges downstream technology routes or fails to maintain its technological leadership, it may face the risk of declining market share.
In addition, because this acquisition formed goodwill of approximately RMB 1.65 billion, if the future performance of the silicon photonics business falls short of expectations, there is a possibility of goodwill impairment, which would directly affect current profit. At the same time, customer concentration risk, accounts receivable collection risk, and compliance risk from dual listing are also challenges the company will need to face in future development.
Overall, Robotechnik Intelligent Technology is at a critical stage of transformation, with the old business bottoming out and the new business exploding.
