Cyberport: Fully supporting the HKSAR Government's policy initiatives to help Hong Kong build an international innovation and technology hub

Cyberport welcomes the Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-chiu's, today (September 16) release of the First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030), and the publication of the Chief Executive's 2026 Policy Address, which sets out a clear blueprint for Hong Kong's future innovation and technology (I&T) landscape and economic development, demonstrating the HKSAR Government's macro strategic vision in proactively aligning with the national 15th Five-Year Plan. As Hong Kong's digital technology hub, AI accelerator, and national-level technology business incubator, Cyberport will fully support the HKSAR Government's policy initiatives, leverage the strengths of its I&T ecosystem, promote the development of new quality productive forces, and help Hong Kong build an international I&T centre. Cyberport Chairman Chen Ximing said that the Chief Executive's today release of the current-term Government's first First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030), which actively aligns with the national 15th Five-Year Plan and strategic development layout, outlines a clear blueprint for Hong Kong's high-quality development over the next five years; the Policy Address released on the same day also proposes a series of concrete measures to strengthen frontier scientific research, promote the translation of research outcomes, and drive industrial development. The two complement each other and inject stronger momentum into Hong Kong's I&T development, and he is full of confidence in this. As one of the "three major I&T parks," Cyberport will fully support the work of building a new pattern of "three major I&T parks and five major research institutions," give play to its role as the flagship for digital technology in the Southern District and as an AI accelerator, and focus on key digital technology areas including AI, cybersecurity, blockchain, and fintech. Cyberport will continue to strengthen the principal role of enterprises in innovation, take industrial development as the orientation, promote deep integration of "industry, academia, and research," drive upstream, midstream, and downstream collaboration, accelerate the translation and industrialization of research outcomes, connect the key links in the innovation chain from R&D and testing to application and market, further enhance the coordinated development of the industrial chain, innovation chain, and supply chain, and accelerate the deep integration of "AI+" with the real economy. Coinciding with the completion of Cyberport Phase 5 expansion, the project will provide more advanced infrastructure and more ample development space, attract more innovative enterprises and R&D talent to establish a presence, and, through a dedicated sustainable development data centre, further enhance the carrying capacity of the I&T ecosystem. Chen Ximing pointed out that Cyberport will continue to play its unique role as a "super connector," "super value-adder," and even "super converter," promote the efficient matching of technology, talent, capital, data, and application scenarios, build a two-way development platform for mainland and overseas enterprises, and help Hong Kong basically establish an international I&T centre by 2030 that is rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, radiates across the country, and connects the world, and deeply participate in the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Innovation and Technology Centre, contributing to the country's high-quality development through technological innovation and serving the country's needs with Hong Kong's strengths.
