Hong Kong Trade Development Council: As global risks increase, diversification becomes essential. Hong Kong will continue to explore new market opportunities.
At the opening speech, Paul Chan, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, stated that with the escalation of global risks, diversification has shifted from an option to a necessity. Businesses face new challenges every day while also needing to seize new opportunities.
On September 9, the "Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation" was inaugurated. During his opening speech, Hong Kong Trade Development Council Chairman Peter Lam stated that when the summit was founded ten years ago, it focused on creating opportunities through global connectivity and cooperation. Today, amid rising global risks, diversification has shifted from an option to a necessity, as we face new challenges daily while also needing to seize new opportunities.
Peter Lam pointed out that Hong Kong will continue to leverage the advantages of "one country, two systems" to assist enterprises in the mainland and Hong Kong in discovering new opportunities beyond traditional partners. As an international financial center, Hong Kong has long been a hub for global trade and services. In recent years, it has also actively developed into a center of excellence for innovation technology and ESG. Whether businesses are seeking funding, technology, partners, or top talent, they can find suitable resources here.
He said that the core of the Belt and Road Initiative lies in establishing new connections in all dimensions, transforming potential into tangible results that benefit the world. High-growth regions such as ASEAN, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America are seen as key areas of potential.
Peter Lam mentioned that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has organized overseas study missions for government officials multiple times, including a delegation led by the Hong Kong Chief Executive in June to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which successfully opened doors for substantial business cooperation and cultural exchanges.
