According to the purchase agreement, the buyer (a wholly-owned subsidiary designated by the company) will purchase the equipment (i.e., equipment for artificial intelligence services) from the supplier for a consideration of RMB 34.4 million (approximately HK$40 million). This equipment will be used in the Group's artificial intelligence data center business.
As part of its business development, the Group has been actively exploring various initiatives to expand its revenue sources and engage in industries with high growth potential. The Group is planning, among other things, to expand its existing big data center business into the artificial intelligence data center field. For many years, the data center business has been one of the Group's main businesses. Through its existing operations in this field, the Group has accumulated rich expertise and experience in the construction, operation, and maintenance of relevant infrastructure. With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, there has been a significant increase in demand for AI-related infrastructure, including artificial intelligence data centers. The Group intends to leverage its existing expertise in big data center operations to focus on the development and leasing of AI-related facilities (such as GPU servers) within artificial intelligence data centers. The purchase of this equipment represents the first step for the Group in expanding its artificial intelligence data center business. The Group is expected to draw on its experience in supporting critical infrastructure (including power supply and cooling systems necessary for the construction of AI facilities). The company intends to use part of the net proceeds from the placement to pay for the consideration under the purchase agreement.
