HKEX stated that in the first half of 2026, the development momentum of Hong Kongs Fixed Income and Currency (FIC) market continued to strengthen. The total clearing amount of Cross-Currency Swaps (CCS) settled through HKEX's subsidiary, OTC Clear, reached USD 82.5 billion, setting a historical high for the same period, reflecting the deepening application of central clearing services in the cross-currency swap market and a further increase in market participation. To further support market development and enhance the efficiency and flexibility of risk management, the OTC clearing house has introduced five optimization measures for its foreign exchange clearing services, four of which have been successfully implemented in the first half of the year: - Optimizing collateral arrangements to improve member collateral management efficiency. - Increasing principal exchange risk limits to support the growing demand for trading. - Revising foreign exchange margin calculation scenarios to optimize margin coverage levels. - Enhancing multilateral compression services for cross-currency swaps to improve capital and operational efficiency. The fifth optimization measure is expected to be launched later this year, which will further expand the Deliverable Foreign Exchange Contracts (DFX) clearing services through the new Authorized Trade Registration System (ATRS) and broaden access channels for market participants. These optimization measures demonstrate HKEX's ongoing commitment to promoting the development of Fixed Income and Currency (FIC) business, contributing to the creation of a more integrated and interconnected market ecosystem, and further consolidating Hong Kongs position as a leading global hub for fixed income and currency markets.
