A total of 5,768 real estate sale and purchase agreements of all types were submitted for registration in August (a decrease of 14.1% compared to July, and a decline of 10.7% compared to August last year). Based on a twelve-month moving average, the number of real estate sale and purchase agreements in August was 7,718 (a decrease of 0.7% compared to July, but an increase of 26.2% compared to August last year). The total value of real estate sale and purchase agreements in August was 44.5 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 14.0% compared to July, and a decline of 6.8% compared to August last year).
Among the aforementioned sale and purchase agreements, residential property transactions accounted for 4,019 agreements (a decrease of 9.9% compared to July, and a decline of 24.0% compared to August last year). The total value of residential property transactions in August was 36.2 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 13.6% compared to July, and a decline of 14.2% compared to August last year).
The statistics on residential property transactions do not include sales under plans such as the Home Ownership Scheme, private sector participation in the Home Ownership Scheme, and the Tenant Purchase Scheme, unless the relevant units have reached the resale restriction period and compensation for the price difference has been made. In August, the number of times citizens made inquiries was 1,749,770 (an increase of 19.3% compared to July, and an increase of 350.1% compared to August last year).
