Anthropic has reached a $35 billion computing power agreement with Lambda, a cloud service provider supported by NVIDIA (NVDA.US).
According to insiders, Anthropic has reached a $35 billion computing power agreement with Lambda, a cloud service provider supported by NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), as part of its efforts to rapidly expand its artificial intelligence capacity. The insiders indicated that the infrastructure company Hut 8 is developing the data center in Texas involved in the project. Media reports had previously mentioned that NVIDIA Corporation would hold the lease for this data center, which is located in Nueces County, Texas. This deal is the latest in a series of artificial intelligence computing power agreements linked to NVIDIA Corporation, the world's most valuable company and a leading provider of AI chips. The company has been leveraging its financial resources to expand access to computing infrastructure, which in turn is expected to increase demand for its technologies. Meanwhile, Anthropic has become one of the most important customers for data center electricity. Last week, the maker of the Claude chatbot agreed to spend $45 billion to lease capacity from Nscale, located in West Virginia. In recent months, it has also signed a $50 billion cloud agreement with the emerging cloud service provider Fluidstack Ltd. and a $45 billion cloud agreement with Elon Musks SpaceX. Lambda is negotiating to raise up to $3 billion in funding. According to insiders, the company is discussing a valuation of up to $12 billion or higher. In a financing round in November, Lambda raised over $1.5 billion. Last year, the company also entered into an agreement with Microsoft Corporation to deploy AI infrastructure powered by thousands of NVIDIA Corporation processors.
