OCUMENSION-B (01477) announced that the first patient has been successfully enrolled in the Phase III clinical trial of OT-202 (spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2) for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) in China. The successful enrollment of the first patient marks an important milestone in the clinical development of OT-202 in China and reflects the company's commitment to advancing innovative therapies for patients with dry eye disease. OT-202 (spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2) is the companys self-developed, first-in-class innovative drug for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye disease. OT-202 works as a dual-target inhibitor of spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2, creating a synergistic effect in treating dry eye by inhibiting inflammatory responses. The Phase I clinical trial, completed successfully in February 2023, demonstrated good safety and tolerability in healthy adult subjects. The Phase II clinical trial for OT-202, which started in February 2023, is planned as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the drug. By November 2023, a total of 213 patients had been enrolled in the Phase II clinical trial in China. The results of the Phase II clinical trial of OT-202 have been published in the prestigious international ophthalmology journal "Ophthalmology." In March 2024, the Phase II clinical trial for OT-202 reached its primary endpoint.
