KB LAMINATES (01888) rose over 5% again, and as of the time of publication, it is up 3.19%, priced at HKD 46.6, with a trading volume of HKD 1.339 billion. In terms of news, the copper-clad laminate leader KB LAMINATES has issued its latest price increase notice. The price increase letter indicates that starting today, the company will uniformly raise the price of all thicknesses of FR-4 copper-clad laminates by 10%; prices for PP semi-cured sheets will vary by specification, with a 10% increase for PP with a thickness of 7628 (inclusive) and above, and a 20% increase for PP with a thickness below 7628. This is already the seventh price increase notice issued by KB LAMINATES this year, with increases occurring nearly every month since March. Preliminary calculations show that the cumulative increase for FR-4 copper-clad laminates (with a thickness of over 1.3mm) has exceeded 100% according to compound interest calculations. Recently, KB LAMINATES Chairman Zhang Guohua stated that driven by AI demand, production expansion will continue significantly in 2027-2028. Among the plans, yarn capacity will increase by 15%, glass cloth will see a short-term increase of 5% and a further increase to 10% next year, and copper-clad laminate capacity will increase by 10% next year. By 2028, the cumulative capital expenditure is expected to be about HKD 9 billion, fully supported by self-generated profits, without the need for additional financing. There is high optimism regarding the demand for glass cloth and copper-clad laminates driven by AI over the next two years, and there is confidence that both KINGBOARD HLDG and KB LAMINATES will achieve profits exceeding HKD 10 billion this year.
