Feihe has officially launched its professional protein ingredient brand "Zhi Chun" along with a series of self-produced protein ingredients. In collaboration with Akzo Marine Biology, Yuxin Biotechnology, Xiaozhao Technology, Yuansheng Biology, and the Optics Valley of China Academy of Sciences, they have introduced five innovative blended protein ingredients to address the challenges in protein ingredient supply.
From August 21 to 23, the Second Precision Nutrition Industry Conference was held in Harbin. The conference was organized by the Precision Nutrition Industry Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society, with Feihe (06186) as the sole enterprise host. It was co-sponsored by the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northeast Agricultural University, the Health Food Research Committee of the China Nutrition and Health Food Association, the Senior Health Technology Innovation Branch of the China Association of Geriatric Medicine, and the Sports and Nutrition Testing Branch of the China Testing and Inspection Society. The conference brought together academicians and renowned experts and scholars in the fields of nutrition, biological sciences, and food science from both China and abroad, as well as leading companies in the sports and nutrition industry such as Byhealth Co.,Ltd, CPT, Xizi Health, and Lilac Biology. This event is the highest standard and largest industry conference in the field of precision nutrition in China. At the conference, Feihe Chairman Leng Youbin delivered a keynote speech. Feihe made a significant announcement regarding its professional protein raw material brand Zhichun and a series of self-produced protein ingredients. It also launched five innovative blended protein formulations in collaboration with Ake Ocean Bio, Yuxin Bio, Xiaozhao Technology, Yuansheng Bio, and Zhongke Guanggu, addressing the challenge of protein raw material supply. Meanwhile, Feihe introduced protein nutrition products covering the entire life cycle, using "fresh and high-quality whey protein more suitable for the Chinese physique," responding to the national demand for nutritional upgrades, and helping to implement precision nutrition, ensuring comprehensive nutritional health for the entire lifespan of the population. Feihe's raw material brand Zhichun made its grand debut with domestic whey protein, aiming for a leap in the industry. Currently, Chinas protein nutrition is facing dual challenges in demand and supply. On the demand side, by 2026, the domestic protein powder market is expected to exceed 38.7 billion yuan, growing by 17.99% year-on-year, with consumers annual protein intake projected to increase by 68% compared to 2023, leading to unprecedented market growth. On the supply side, global protein raw materials continue to tighten; in the past two years, the cost of concentrated whey protein (WPC80) has increased by a cumulative 108%, with 90% of whey protein in China relying on imports. Moreover, imported raw materials take months to arrive in China by sea, leading to severe loss of freshness and active nutrients, making it difficult to guarantee supply chain safety and raw material quality. To produce protein, the first issue is to resolve the raw material problem. Only with fresh raw materials can we ensure good nutrition. To provide the best nutrition for our citizens, we must control the core materials ourselves, stated Leng Youbin, Chairman of CHINA FEIHE. Relying on a fully integrated industry chain and the scale advantages of infant formula production, Feihe started research on deep processing of whey protein in 2011. After 15 years and over 3,000 trials, consuming nearly 300,000 tons of milk, it developed an innovative "whey protein fresh extraction active process," overcoming challenges in domestic protein separation technology. The new protein raw material brand Zhichun FURIMMO officially launched by Feihe has three core advantages: in terms of process, foreign countries usually extract whey protein from cheese byproducts, followed by chemical precipitation and secondary processing; Feihe, on the other hand, uses direct extraction technology from fresh milk at low temperatures, maximizing the retention of the protein's natural structure and biological activity. Regarding quality, the standards of Feihe's infant formula are applied throughout the raw material production chain, and the industrys first fresh raw material standards for whey sources have been established to ensure raw material safety and freshness quality with higher standards and stricter management. In terms of production capacity, Feihe's deep processing bases in Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia are fully operational, processing 3,000 tons of fresh milk daily, with plans to open raw material supply to the entire industry in the future. The name Zhichun means fresh nutrition and stable protection, symbolizing the brands commitment to original quality and the use of advanced technology to preserve nutrition for longer and enhance absorption efficiency, said Zhang Xuguang, Vice President of CHINA FEIHE and Director of the Research Institute. Upholding the position of "protein technology expert," Zhichun has constructed three product categories: milk protein, milk fat, and milk permeates, dedicated to providing global customers with "one-stop solutions for dairy raw materials." Six self-produced raw materials were launched, achieving strategic cooperation with several leading brands. People of different ages and physical conditions have varying needs for protein nutrition: athletes require quick recovery, while the middle-aged and elderly emphasize gentleness and absorbability. However, high-end whey protein raw materials have become a bottleneck in industry development. The long-term shortage of core materials such as high-quality casein and high-purity -lactalbumin has somewhat restricted product innovation in sports nutrition and precise care for the elderly. In response to the gap in high-end whey protein raw materials localization, Feihe made a significant announcement at the conference, launching six self-produced protein raw materials covering three main categories: casein, whey protein, and milk protein. Among them, the MicLacPro series of three casein raw materials has achieved breakthroughs in technical layering, with instant soluble casein dissolving quickly without clumping or white spots, suitable for product development, automated mass production, and all scenarios of food preservation; hydrolyzed casein uses special enzymatic processes to release various active peptides (small beneficial components after protein degradation), fitting high-efficiency nutritional supplementation scenarios such as athletic recovery and post-surgery recovery; small molecule milk protein can accurately control the release rate, balancing rapid absorption with long-term supply. Natural whey protein, relying on the fresh whey protein active extraction process, has superior activity and quality compared to imported products; high-purity -lactalbumin breaks the long-standing technological monopoly overseas, achieving domestic breakthroughs; and concentrated milk protein can be customized based on differentiated formula needs across industries. Additionally, Feihe Zhichun, in partnership with Ake Ocean Bio, Yuxin Bio, Xiaozhao Technology, Yuansheng Bio, and Zhongke Guanggu, jointly released protein blending premix (pre-mixed raw materials) solutions. Leveraging a comprehensive in-house raw material library and blending technology platform, Feihe scientifically combines its high-activity whey protein with plant proteins and marine biological active raw materials to achieve a protein nutrition enhancement effect of 1+1>2, thus broadening the application scenarios of whey protein. The 2025 National Protein Intake Status Survey Report indicates that more than 70% of people in China do not know how to scientifically supplement protein; nearly 90% of the elderly proactively reduce protein intake due to weakened digestive function; and 55.71% of children have a single source of protein.
