Lyon: CKH HOLDINGS (00001) has initiated international arbitration regarding the Panama port, expecting a positive market response.
If Changhe were to receive compensation of at least $1.5 billion, it would correspond to approximately 4.4% of its current market value, which the bank estimates is at least 19.5 times the 2025 EBIT of the Panama port.
A report released by Lyon states that CKH HOLDINGS (00001) has officially initiated international arbitration against the Republic of Panama for violating the investment protection treaty, targeting its port concessions with state actions and damaging the group's investments, claiming over $1.5 billion in damages. This news is seen positively, as the market has already disregarded the contributions from the two Panamanian ports. If CKH HOLDINGS receives at least $1.5 billion in compensation, it would account for approximately 4.4% of its current market value, which the firm estimates corresponds to at least 19.5 times the 2025 EBIT of the Panamanian ports. Additionally, the firm noted that CKH HOLDINGS has no record of losing in past appeals or arbitrations.
