I believe the center will be able to further deepen the cooperation between Guangzhou and Hong Kong in technological innovation and industrial collaboration, enabling more enterprises to sustain their development and injecting strong momentum into the construction of the Greater Bay Area.
On August 19, Professor Sun Dong, Director of the Innovation and Technology Bureau of Hong Kong, attended the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Enterprise Navigation: New Quality Future Forum and the unveiling ceremony of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong New Quality Productivity Empowerment Center. He emphasized that as core cities in the Greater Bay Area, both Guangzhou and Hong Kong share the important mission of developing new quality productivity, promoting the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and facilitating high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong possesses a unique advantage of "backing by the motherland and connecting to the world." Coupled with its strong research capabilities, diversified investment and financing channels, mature business environment, and legal system and standards aligned with international norms, it serves as an ideal platform for enterprises to upgrade and develop toward international markets. Guangzhou has a solid industrial development foundation, a complete industrial system, robust manufacturing capabilities, and rich application scenarios, which can further enrich the connotation of business development and help companies delve deeper and more substantively. Sun Dong pointed out that for a long time, there has been frequent economic and trade exchanges between Guangzhou and Hong Kong, with a deep foundation, and the two places have long been close partners in cooperation. In the era of technological innovation, the establishment of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong New Quality Productivity Empowerment Center is a concrete practice of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. He believes that the center will deepen collaboration between Guangzhou and Hong Kong in technological innovation and industrial synergy, allowing more enterprises to sustain development and inject strong momentum into the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Sun Dong stated that the newly established Guangzhou-Hong Kong New Quality Productivity Empowerment Center, which was unveiled today, is an important outcome of the strategic cooperation memorandum signed in March this year between the Productivity Council and the Guangzhou Development and Reform Commission, as well as Guangzhou's Greater Bay Area Office. It is also a positive response to the national development strategy. He hopes that the center will leverage the strengths of both regions to fulfill three major roles. First, to deepen the collaborative innovation between Guangzhou and Hong Kong by integrating their innovation resources, streamlining the innovation chain, and promoting more outcomes to be implemented. Second, to empower enterprises in upgrading and transforming through comprehensive services such as technical consulting, talent training, and standards alignment, along with the Productivity Council's rich experience in digital transformation, green transition, and technological upgrades, hence facilitating enterprise development. Third, to assist enterprises in going global, stepping into international markets, playing the roles of Hong Kong as a "super connector" and "super value adder," and utilizing international professional service resources to help enterprises connect with global resources and expand overseas markets.
