On August 18, the National Railway Administration issued a statement indicating that from January to July 2026, the overall passenger and cargo transportation volume of national railways remained stable, with passenger transportation being safe and orderly, and the transportation of key materials being effectively ensured, providing reliable support for stable economic operations.
In terms of passenger transport, from January to July, the national railways cumulatively dispatched 2.801 billion passengers, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%; and completed a passenger turnover of 992.345 billion person-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%.
In terms of freight transport, from January to July, the national railways cumulatively completed a cargo dispatch volume of 3.052 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%; and achieved a freight turnover of 22,010.04 billion ton-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. By category, from January to July, the national railways dispatched a total of 1.610 billion tons of coal, 638 million tons of containers, and 33.51 million tons of grain, representing year-on-year increases of 2.4%, 7.2%, and 3.4% respectively, with strong support for the transportation of key materials.
In terms of fixed asset investment, from January to July, the fixed asset investment in national railways reached 440.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%, with steady growth in railway construction investment.
