On August 18, the Hong Kong interbank offered rates generally rose, with the one-month HIBOR related to mortgage loans reported at 2.57655%, an increase of 2.179 basis points. The three-month HIBOR, which reflects banks' funding costs, was reported at 2.88792%, an increase of 0.215 basis points. The overnight rate was at 2.31286%, up 18.965 basis points; the one-week HIBOR rose by 10.286 basis points to 2.28935%, while the two-week rate increased by 15.851 basis points to 2.44643%. The two-month HIBOR was reported at 2.80708%, an increase of 0.708 basis points. In terms of longer-term rates, the six-month HIBOR rose by 0.071 basis points to 3.18744%, while the one-year rate fell by 1.399 basis points to 3.50000%.
