Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. updates the list of stocks benefiting from AI productivity! eBAY (EBAY.US), Airbnb, Inc. Class A (ABNB.US), Boeing Company (BA.US), among others.
Goldman Sachs has updated its list of potential beneficiaries of artificial intelligence (AI) productivity, focusing on labor-intensive companies within the Russell 1000 index that have a significant exposure to AI automation.
After the second quarter earnings report season, Wall Street financial giant Goldman Sachs updated its potential artificial intelligence (AI) productivity beneficiary stock selection list, focusing on companies within the Russell 1000 index that are labor-intensive and have significant exposure to AI automation.
According to reports, this screening model ranks companies across industries based on two indicators: first, the ratio of labor costs to sales revenue, and second, the proportion of total wages that can be automated by AI. The second indicator is based on occupational-level data provided by Revelio. To be included in the selection list, a stock must rank in the top 50% for both indicators within its industry, and the company must have mentioned AI in the context of productivity or efficiency during its second quarter or first quarter earnings call. Additionally, Goldman Sachs has excluded companies from its basket that are related to AI infrastructure or are considered to face risks from AI disruption.
This update came after the second quarter earnings report season. Goldman Sachs found that the impact of AI adoption on corporate profitability remains relatively limited. Although 65% of companies in the S&P 500 index mentioned AI, and 46% discussed AI in the context of productivity or efficiency, only 11% quantified the impact of AI in a specific application scenario, with companies that truly quantified AI's impact on profitability accounting for just 2%.
Goldman Sachs stated that companies in this stock basket discussed AI productivity-related initiatives during their earnings calls, but have not yet demonstrated a meaningful growth trajectory in profits driven by AI applications. Thus, investors are currently more focused on beneficiaries of AI infrastructure.
