The Unity Hong Kong Fund welcomes the implementation of the first batch of projects aimed at enhancing AI efficiency by the Hong Kong government.
Shui Zhiwei, Vice President of the Hong Kong Unity Fund and Executive Director of the Institute of Public Policy Research, responded to the Hong Kong government's implementation of the first batch of efficiency enhancement projects under the AI Efficiency Promotion Group. He welcomed the government's pragmatic approach to advancing digital and intelligent transformation.
Shui Zhiwei stated that the first batch of 30 projects involves 13 government departments and covers areas closely related to public livelihood, such as license applications and online appointments, reflecting the government's orderly application of artificial intelligence technology in the public service sector. He believes these projects will help civil servants save time spent on repetitive processes, allowing them to focus more on tasks that require human decision-making and coordination, thereby further enhancing the overall quality of public services.
Looking ahead, Shui Zhiwei hopes that based on the successful implementation of the first batch of projects, the AI Efficiency Promotion Group can continue to explore more suitable application scenarios, prioritizing areas closely related to citizens' lives or where there are process bottlenecks. He also suggested that the government establish an effectiveness evaluation mechanism to measure the actual impact of the projects on citizen satisfaction and departmental work efficiency, ensuring that the results of digital transformation can be tangibly translated into service improvements that citizens can perceive.
