The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced that preliminary visitor arrivals to Hong Kong in July reached 4.5 million, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous year.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced that in early July, the number of visitors to Hong Kong reached 4.5 million, a 3% year-on-year increase. Among them, long-haul travelers rose by 17%, while short-haul travelers dropped by 9%.
In the first seven months of this year, the cumulative number of visitors to Hong Kong was approximately 31.22 million, an 11% year-on-year increase. The overall performance of the mainland China market remained stable; the long-haul market continued to show strong growth momentum, increasing by 19% year-on-year; however, the short-haul market was still affected by rising fuel costs and adjustments in airline capacity due to the situation in the Middle East, resulting in a 3% year-on-year decline.
Looking ahead to the second half of the year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will launch a series of flagship events covering various categories such as festivals, sports, and food, including the "Hong Kong Bicycle Festival," "Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival," "Hong Kong Spectacular Winter Fest," and the "Hong Kong New Year Countdown." Additionally, new large-scale events for the Mid-Autumn Festival and "Halloween Month" will be introduced, along with the city's diverse range of events to attract visitors.
At the same time, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will continue to collaborate with the industry to launch various promotional activities, encouraging travelers to explore different communities and unique tourism experiences in Hong Kong, extending their stay, increasing consumption, and further creating greater economic benefits for the tourism and related industries.
