On August 17, the National Bureau of Statistics released the basic situation of fixed asset investment in the country from January to July 2026. From January to July, national fixed asset investment (excluding households) amounted to 26,032.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7% (calculated on a comparable basis). Among this, investment in intellectual property products increased by 9.1%.
By industry, investment in the primary industry was 532.9 billion yuan, down 0.5% year-on-year; investment in the secondary industry was 9,770.9 billion yuan, down 2.1%; and investment in the tertiary industry was 15,729.0 billion yuan, down 9.5%.
Industrial investment decreased by 2.1% year-on-year. Among this, investment in the mining industry increased by 3.3%, manufacturing investment decreased by 1.7%, and investment in electricity, heating, gas, and water production and supply decreased by 5.3%.
Infrastructure investment (detailed in Note 1) decreased by 3.6% year-on-year. Among this, investment in information transmission increased by 26.0%, investment in water transportation increased by 16.2%, and investment in air transportation increased by 15.7%.
By region, investment in the eastern region decreased by 8.6% year-on-year, investment in the central region decreased by 6.4%, investment in the western region decreased by 8.6%, and investment in the northeastern region decreased by 24.6%.
By registration category, fixed asset investment by domestic enterprises decreased by 6.4%, fixed asset investment by enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan decreased by 8.1%, and fixed asset investment by foreign-invested enterprises decreased by 5.4%.
From January to July, private fixed asset investment decreased by 9.4% year-on-year. On a month-on-month basis, fixed asset investment (excluding households) decreased by 1.42% in July.
