Bohua Biosciences (06955) announced that its independently developed innovative antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting CD228, BA1302, has completed the single-agent dose escalation phase (Phase Ia) of the Phase I clinical trial in China. The study results indicate that BA1302 has demonstrated good anti-tumor activity in various patients with advanced solid tumors who have experienced disease progression after multiple lines of treatment, with overall good safety and tolerability.
BOAN BIOTECH (06955) released an announcement stating that the company's independently developed innovative antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting CD228, BA1302, has completed the dose escalation phase of the Phase I clinical study in China (Ia Phase). The study results show that BA1302 demonstrates good anti-tumor activity in various patients with advanced solid tumors whose disease progressed after multiple lines of treatment, and the overall safety and tolerability are good. To the companys knowledge, BA1302 is currently the only CD228 ADC in clinical stages globally. The CD228 target protein is highly expressed in various solid tumors, including melanoma, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, squamous non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, mesothelioma, colon cancer, and pancreatic cancer, while it is expressed at lower levels in normal tissues, making it an ideal ADC target. In terms of molecular design, BA1302 utilizes a cleavable hydrophilic linker to couple the cytotoxic agent MMAE with the CD228 monoclonal antibody via a hinge-region cysteine, guiding the toxin precisely to the tumor site through the antibodys specific targeting, thereby exerting anti-tumor effects while reducing toxic side effects and enhancing the therapeutic window. The company believes that the preliminary efficacy and safety characteristics presented in this Ia phase study are encouraging, further strengthening the companys confidence in the value of the CD228 target and the development prospects of BA1302. The single-agent activity demonstrated by this drug in multiple solid tumors, along with its combined development potential, is expected to open up a new pathway for precision cancer therapy.
