On August 13, the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government released statistics on external merchandise trade volumes and price figures for June. In the first half of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, the overall export volume and import volume of goods in Hong Kong rose by 28.7% and 30.4%, respectively.
Seasonally adjusted figures indicated that in the second quarter of 2026, compared to the previous quarter, the overall export volume and import volume of goods increased by 6.6% and 2.2%, respectively.
Comparing June 2026 to June 2025, the overall export prices and import prices of goods rose by 13.6% and 12.7%, respectively.
In the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, the overall export prices and import prices of goods increased by 7.9% and 7.6%, respectively.
The trade price ratio index is calculated based on the ratio of the overall export price index to the import price index. Compared to the same period in 2025, this index increased by 0.8% in June 2026, while in the first half of 2026, it rose by 0.3%.
Comparing June 2026 to June 2025, the overall export volume to the United States (85.2%), Taiwan (60.5%), Vietnam (40.5%), and Mainland China (36.9%) recorded increases. On the other hand, exports to India saw a decrease of 8.8%.
At the same time, the overall export prices to all major destinations increased: Mainland China (15.9%), the United States (13.3%), India (11.9%), Vietnam (10.5%), and Taiwan (10.1%).
Comparing June 2026 to June 2025, the import volume from all major supplying regions recorded increases: South Korea (109.2%), Vietnam (74.7%), Singapore (27.9%), Mainland China (25.0%), and Taiwan (2.2%).
Meanwhile, import prices from all major supplying regions also rose: South Korea (31.3%), Taiwan (20.0%), Vietnam (14.2%), Mainland China (12.1%), and Singapore (10.1%).
