Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the operation status of the internet and related services industry for the first half of 2026. In the first half of the year, the growth rate of internet business revenue remained steady. China's above-scale internet and related services companies (hereinafter referred to as internet companies) achieved internet business revenue of 1,067.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%, with a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to the growth rate from January to May. The growth rate of total profit accelerated. In the first half of the year, Chinas above-scale internet companies achieved a total profit of 98.99 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%, with the growth rate increasing by 6.9 percentage points compared to January to May. Investment in R&D funds showed stable growth. In the first half of the year, Chinas above-scale internet companies invested a total of 59.55 billion yuan in R&D, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%, with the growth rate declining by 1.2 percentage points compared to January to May. From a regional perspective, in the first half of the year, the internet business revenue growth rates for the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions were 11.5%, -13.8%, 3.5%, and -28.6%, respectively. The eastern region accounted for 90.5% of the country's internet business revenue. The internet business revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region grew by 14% year-on-year, while the revenue in the Yangtze River Delta region grew by 8.3% year-on-year. The two regions account for 33.6% and 30.7% of the national internet business revenue, respectively. In the first half of the year, there were 16 provinces (regions, cities) in the country that achieved positive growth in internet business revenue. Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guizhou had the top five internet business revenues in the country.
