In terms of news, on August 4, during a SpaceX investor conference call, CEO Elon Musk announced that the company has decided to exclusively adopt NVIDIA Corporation technology for its AI computing power construction. Musk stated that SpaceX believes NVIDIA Corporation's Vera Rubin architecture "is currently the best AI computer" and plans to launch the Starmind satellite, equipped with the NVIDIA Corporation Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-mounted system, next year, extending AI computing power into low Earth orbit.
Musk revealed that SpaceX expects its computing capacity to exceed 2 gigawatts (GW) by the end of this year and approach 10 GW by the end of next year. Meanwhile, the company plans to deploy NVIDIA Corporation Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-level systems on the ground and in space, using them for the "Starmind" satellite project, with related satellite launches expected to begin next year. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that SpaceX's capital expenditures have surged significantly, with the company's capital spending in the second quarter reaching approximately $18.4 billion, compared to only $2.83 billion in the same period last year, of which about $15.8 billion was related to AI business capital expenditures, accounting for 86% of total capital expenditures.
