According to reports, Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup DeepSeek plans to build a large AI data center in Inner Mongolia, adding approximately 1 gigawatt (GW) of computing power, reflecting the company's substantial investment in computing infrastructure to rival leading companies in Silicon Valley, USA. The report indicates that the data center will be located in Ulanqab, about 350 kilometers northwest of Beijing. In addition to planning to build its own data center, DeepSeek will also lease additional computing power from other companies. It is reported that more than 10 enterprises have already planned projects in the city. Insiders say that DeepSeek hopes to have at least some of the computing power operational by the end of 2027 or early 2028, but the project has not disclosed what type of chips will be used.
