On July 24th, HKEX released a "Consultation Summary" on proposals to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong's listing mechanism. The revised "Listing Rules" came into effect immediately.
In this consultation, HKEX received a total of 73 responses from various sectors of the market. All the proposals put forward by HKEX in the consultation document received wide support, with many receiving nearly unanimous approval. HKEX will adopt all the proposals, with some slight modifications as detailed in the "Consultation Summary".
Jasmine WU, Head of Listing at HKEX, said: "This reform is an important step in enhancing the flexibility and diversity of Hong Kong's listing mechanism, ensuring that our listing mechanism is up to date and able to compete in the increasingly fierce international competition. While maintaining high standards of corporate governance and investor protection, we hope to attract more types of high-quality companies to list in Hong Kong by expanding the channels for company listings, creating more opportunities for investors, and consolidating Hong Kong's position as the preferred global listing destination. We appreciate the support and valuable opinions of all those who contributed to this reform. We will continue to work towards enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong's listing mechanism and will seek market feedback on further reforms in the coming months."
