Macau's "Oil and Gas Price Subsidy Program" has achieved its short-term relief goals and will end as scheduled on Saturday night.

On July 23, the Macao SAR Government announced that it will end the two-month "subsidy plan for diesel and gasoline prices" as scheduled on July 25, midnight this Saturday, and urged the industry to adjust fuel retail prices reasonably in response to the downward trend of international oil prices to meet public expectations and demands. In the morning, the Macao SAR Government issued a press release stating that the consumer price index in Macao fell by 0.15% in June, with the transportation category index decreasing by 1.01% and the housing and fuel category index decreasing by 0.16%, indicating that the overall inflation level in Macao remains stable. The SAR Government's "diesel price subsidy plan" and "subsidy plan for fuel and gasoline prices" introduced in a "combo" approach have achieved the expected goals of providing timely short-term relief and stabilizing people's livelihood. The Macao SAR Government stated that considering the recent trend of international oil prices and the prudent use of public finances, it has decided to end the subsidy plan as scheduled. The government will continue to closely monitor and collect information on changes in fuel prices, analyze and supervise them, coordinate with the industry to stabilize fuel prices and supply, and urge the public to stagger their refueling and purchase of LPG before the end of the plan to avoid crowding at gas stations or significantly increasing the distribution pressure on the LPG industry.
