Hong Kong Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau Deputy Director Patrick Chan Ho-lim posted on social media this morning stating that he met with the Minister for Land and Natural Resources of Ghana, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah. They discussed key measures to promote economic growth, with a focus on the mutual development of the gold market ecosystem. They also agreed to arrange for a Ghanaian delegation to visit Hong Kong later this year for further discussions on gold market cooperation and other financial matters. Chan Ho-lim stated that Ghana, as a significant global producer and market participant in the gold industry, agreed to deepen cooperation and jointly study and promote the infrastructure, trading mechanisms, and policy innovation in the gold market. They aim to create a seamless, efficient, and trustworthy gold corridor to benefit producers, refiners, traders, and investors in both locations. He mentioned that Hong Kong is committed to supporting countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, including Ghana, through sharing financial expertise and cooperation. By enhancing financial cooperation, they hope to empower these countries to achieve their economic goals and make a positive contribution to regional prosperity and the Belt and Road Initiative.
