Macau: The Composite Consumer Price Index in June increased by 1.24% year-on-year.

According to data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau, the Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2026 increased by 1.24% compared to the previous year, but decreased by 0.15% compared to the previous month. Over the past twelve months up to June this year, the average CPI increased by 0.79% compared to the same period a year ago (from July 2024 to June 2025). Compared to the same month last year, the price index of the Food and Non-alcoholic Beverage category rose by 1.31%, mainly due to the increase in dining out and takeaway charges, while the prices of gasoline and air tickets also increased, leading to a 3.71% rise in the Transport category. The prices of Clothing and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (including personal care, insurance, as well as jewelry and watches) increased by 3.17% and 2.36% respectively compared to the previous year. Class A and Class B CPIs rose by 1.09% and 1.36% respectively. Compared to May, the Composite CPI in June fell by 0.15%. The price index of the Transport and Miscellaneous Goods and Services categories dropped by 1.01% and 0.72% respectively. On the other hand, the Clothing category rose by 0.92% and the Food and Non-alcoholic Beverage category also rose by 0.12% in June. Class A and Class B CPIs decreased by 0.13% and 0.16% respectively compared to the previous month. Over the past twelve months up to June this year, the average CPI increased by 0.79% compared to the same period a year ago, with Class A and Class B CPIs increasing by 0.71% and 0.86% respectively. The average CPI for the first half of the year increased by 1.11% compared to the previous year, with Class A and Class B CPIs increasing by 1.00% and 1.19% respectively. The average CPI for the second quarter increased by 1.30% compared to the previous year, with Class A and Class B CPIs increasing by 1.14% and 1.42% respectively. Compared to the first quarter, the average CPI increased by 0.40%. The Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau has compiled three series of Consumer Price Indices to reflect the impact of price changes of goods/services on households with different expenditure groups. Class A and Class B CPIs cover approximately 50% and 30% of households, with monthly average expenditures ranging from 11,000 to 35,999 Macau Patacas and 36,000 to 71,999 Macau Patacas respectively. The Composite CPI covers all of the above households, with a higher proportion of expenditures on Housing and Fuel, Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages, and Transport categories, accounting for 34.47%, 29.47%, and 8.33% respectively.
