In terms of news, on July 21st, General Motors Company released its second quarter financial report: adjusted Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) reached $3.9 billion, a significant increase of 29.8% year-on-year. Adjusted earnings per share were $3.57, surpassing expectations of $3.19; profit margin rose from 6.4% to 8.2%. Revenue was $48.03 billion, a 1.9% increase year-on-year, also exceeding expectations.
Based on the strong performance in the first half of the year, General Motors Company announced its second upward revision of the full-year performance guidance for 2026: adjusted EBIT for this year is expected to be between $14 billion and $16 billion, higher than the April forecast of $13.5 billion to $15.5 billion, and also higher than the January forecast of $13 billion to $15 billion. The midpoint of the adjusted earnings per share guidance is $13, surpassing analysts' consensus expectation of $12.79.
