In May, the Hong Kong Buildings Department approved a total of 13 sets of building plans, including 3 on Hong Kong Island, 4 in Kowloon, and 6 in the New Territories.
In May, the Hong Kong Buildings Department approved a total of 13 sets of building plans, including 3 on Hong Kong Island, 4 in Kowloon, and 6 in the New Territories. These approved plans include 4 residential and mixed-use developments, 3 factory and industrial developments, and 6 community service developments.
Eight construction projects were granted approval to commence work, which will provide a total of 121,273 square meters of residential building floor area, accommodating 2060 units, as well as 9,366 square meters of non-residential building floor area. In addition, the department also received notices for the commencement of the superstructure works for ten building projects.
The Buildings Department also issued 14 occupation permits, including 5 on Hong Kong Island, 3 in Kowloon, and 6 in the New Territories. The residential building floor area for these permits is 43,301 square meters, with a total of 809 units; while the non-residential building floor area is 78,814 square meters.
The total value of new completed buildings in May is approximately 4.3 billion Hong Kong dollars. Additionally, the department approved two demolition projects. In May, the department received 2362 reports of unauthorized building works and issued 385 demolition orders for such structures.
